How 7 "online" seconds can change your busines

The difference between your website being an expensive online brochure or an effective sales tool is determined by what your prospective clients see and do during the first 7 seconds on your website. Otherwise know as the ‘7 second grab’ online specialists have measured 7 seconds as the critical time you have to capture the attention of someone looking at your product or services before they move on to the next website.

Understanding you could have one of the best business assets ‘working for you’, (your website) tirelessly at it 24 hours a day 7 days a week, virtually without complaint, sickness, wrong uniform, bad hair days or sleeping in. It seems investing some time, effort and money into understanding what works and what doesn’t during those critical first 7 seconds, like you would a new staff member, will benefit both you and your potential new client.

As health, fitness and wellness professionals delivering a service or product that positively changes lives we really need to review our skill in understanding the needs of our clients and move away from promoting unnecessary information about ourselves or our qualifications. When selling health; people buy you and they buy solutions. Here are 5 things you can implement that will dramatically affect you and more people’s lives via your great products and services -

1. Use ‘persuasive architecture’

The structure of your Home Page and ‘landing Pages needs to be pleasing to the eye, understanding we read left to right (excluding Asian countries.) So building a campaign using video’s, audios and photos is more effective then lots of words. The structure and set up can work or not work based on the visuals. Also clean looking sites that avoid lots of flash and busy-ness are up to 10 times more effective. Avoid doing it yourself and use a professional.

2. An ‘unbelievable offer’.

If you understand the needs of your target market then you can offer online solutions like e-books, audios and short free videos so that you get an understanding of your clients needs but make it really easy for them to join you. Free isn’t necessarily the answer but offering great value works.

3. Capturing details

Firstly if you don’t have the website ability to capture the details of those willing to give you their information then this must be your priority. Like handing out business cards is a very ineffective way to build your business, so is having a website that doesn’t have an automated process to capture people’s information. Create a healthy business by being effective at getting permission to capture people’s details.

4. Less is more

The health and fitness industry is full of beautiful people who enjoying helping others. However we also enjoy talking, sometimes too much. Learn how to say in 5 words what it is you do – online.

5. Be consistent

Similar to losing weight you need to be consistent in your efforts. Constant review and regular reporting are the basis to a great system. I one hit, one month effort simply wont work, consistency over time = results.

The ultimate compliment in business is for someone to give you their details. It indicates, trust that you listen, understand their health needs and that you speak their language. By posting a great offer on your front page of your site in exchange for clients details you create a situation where everyone wins!
